GC imChem GC Plot Columns

imChem® GC Plot colonnes
- porous layer open tubular columns -

Our production

Our PLOT columns, [Porous Layer Open Tubular], are manufactured from various adsorbents such as aluminum oxide, porous polymers, zeolites, ...
Their particles form a homogeneous layer of controlled thickness on the fused silica tube, and are immobilized by a proprietary process.

The very high specific surface areas of the adsorbents provide the capacities required for separations. Likewise, their different polarities induce a range of selectivities that make possible a very wide variety of separations, from the simplest to the most specific.

These columns are ideal for separating volatile and gaseous compounds.

Method Development

Choose a short column as a first choice, and increase its length to 50 or 60 m if retention is insufficient.

Choose a 0.53 mm id column if you have highly concentrated samples.

Choose a 0.32 mm column to improve basic separations or for GC-MS applications.

Recommendation for PLOT columns use

To preserve the homogeneity of the particle bed in the column, cut it carefully and cleanly, do not vibrate it, and do not bend the tube.
It is important to seal the column with a septum before storing it.
Inside the oven, maintain the column gas flow at a temperature of between 100°C and 150°C when inactive.

Direct injection of aqueous or unfiltered samples can damage Alumina and Molesieve PLOT columns.
If the column is contaminated, a long-term backwash may be considered.

Maximum operating temperature must be respected.
Helium is the preferred carrier gas.
If hydrogen is to be used as a carrier gas, then avoid high temperatures.

When using GC-MS, if particles enter the ion source,
clean them as soon as possible to prevent them from moving towards the detector or turbo-pump.
